Scope
This guidance explains the migration from Simple Cite Server/Data Center to Cloud.
Feature differences
Due to technical limitations the Cloud version of Simple Cite has some notable differences to the Server/DC version:
Element | Major differences |
---|---|
CSL styles (DOI and BibTeX cites) | In the Server/DC version you define the CSL styles in the Cite Summary. They are then applied to all citations covered by the Cite Summary. In the Cloud version you must specify the CSL style in each DOI or BibTeX cite. |
Single Cite macro | The Single Cite macro exists in Cloud as well but suffers from the in-line rendering issue when used in the new editor. |
BibTeX listing macro
This macro does not exist in the Cloud version.
Override citation (DOI and BibTeX cites) | In the Server/DC version you define the citation override in the Cite Summary. It is then applied to all citations covered by the Cite Summary. In the Cloud version you must specify it in each DOI or BibTeX cite. |
Show cites as tooltip | Currently not supported in the Cloud version. |
Status after the using Atlassian’s migration assistant
After you have used Atlassian’s migration assistant you should see that the following cites are shown properly:
Single cites (they are not (yet) affected by the in-line rendering issue as Confluence uses the old editor for imported pages)
Single cites short
The following cites won’t be shown in the summary:
Imported cites
DOI cites
BibTeX cites
Using Simple Cite’s migration support
Note |
---|
Before the migration support works you must accept the new app scope (including a write permission). You can do so starting 2022-05-10. |
Open the migration support page
Please navigate to
Code Block |

<<your url>>/plugins/servlet/ac/de.edrup.confluence.plugins.simple-cite/simple-cite-migration |
...
Code Block |
---|
https://example.atlassian.net/wiki/plugins/servlet/ac/de.edrup.confluence.plugins.simple-cite/simple-cite-migration |
Configure your migration and execute it
...
Please define all space keys of the spaces for which you want to migrate the citations. In the example above two spaces will be migrated (space with space key HR and SWD). You can now simulate the migration or execute it. During the migration the app will create a new page version of all pages containing cites which need to be migrated. It performs the change under your name. Therefore please ensure that you have to corresponding permissions.
Note |
---|
The Confluence Cloud index needs some time to index the newly migrated spaces. In some cases you need to wait 1-2 hours before all citations can be found! |
